Technicians. Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials.
Engineering Drawing for Technicians. Principles and Applications
of Electronic Devices and Circuits. Year 2 Units Communications
for Engineering Technicians. Engineering Project. Selecting and
Using Programmable Logic Controllers. Further Mathematics for
Engineering Technicians. Further Electrical Principles, and one of
the two units listed below Principles and Operation of Three Phase
Systems. Engineering Design. To successfully complete the course,
eleven units must be obtained. A Course for Trainee technicians in
electrical or electronic engineering or for those who are wishing
to continue their education in order to obtain the necessary entry
qualifications for university. Entry Requirements Four GCSEs at
Grade C to include Mathematics, Physics or alternative Science
subject, or BTEC First Certificate, or Diploma or equivalent.
Students not reaching the required entry qualifications can apply
for certain exemptions, which will be subject to the course team
being satisfied a student will benefit by taking the course.
Assessment Students are continuously assessed on the units of the
course, each unit successfully completed as part of a programme of
study counts to the students award. Learning Outcome This course
prepares students for the Higher National Certificate in
Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
