- explain how management theory and practice has been influenced by individual national cultures
- explore contemporary and emergent management theory and practice and its contribution in a national and international setting
- explore current and evolving human resource management philosophy within an international context
- investigate human resource issues at management and operative levels within corporate and project arenas
- acquire human resource skills within multi-discipline intra-group and inter-group working across a range of cultures
- enhance your personal profile in interpersonal, informational and decision-making skills, and in the use of personal time, and to develop for the longer term a systematic personal development programme (PDP).
When you have completed the module you should be able to:
- explore historical bases from which management theory has developed and show how historical perspective has influenced contemporary thought
- discuss how management theory and practice has been influenced by individual national cultures
- identify the contribution which national and/or international management thought can make to the development of individual management performance
- explore the social, cultural and political differences between people in order to improve understanding and reduce cultural barriers
- describe current and evolving human resource management philosophy within an international context
- critically evaluate human resource issues at management and operative levels within corporate and project arenas.
