This course offers a well balanced blend of theory and practice which prepares you for work as a project manager in the construction industry. Project managers are responsible for controlling and coordinating the development process from concept through to construction and are in high demand across a number of industries. You will learn how to manage finances, risk, and construction as well as gain a solid foundation in procurement strategy. The course also covers technological theory and practice linked heavily to industry so you will graduate ready to progress immediately into a role in the industry. You will gain an industry recognised qualification this course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). This degree is accredited as meeting the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) for candidates who have already acquired an Accredited CEng (Partial) BEng (Hons) undergraduate first degree. What's involved This course is taught part-time over two years with attendance of one day per week. Each year is split up in to three trimesters. You'll study one or two modules per trimester for the first two years and spend your third year working on a focused piece of research. You'll learn through various methods including lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and independent study. This course can also be studied full-time and part-time by distance learning. Year 1 Strategic Management (Built Environment & Engineering), Project Management, Production Management, Procurement Strategy Year 2 Dissertation, Project Appraisal & Finance, Project Risk Management Students of this course are eligible for the Best Timber-related dissertation prize.

Requirements at a glance Entry to the course Typically, you'll need an honours degree in an engineering discipline. However, applicant with a social sciences background seeking to gain an understanding of construction project management are encouraged to apply. Alternatively, an appropriate professional qualification or a degree qualification and relevant work experience will also be considered.
