Masters Level Module
This two-and-a-half day residential module aims to give participants an understanding of the underpinning approaches to Lifelong Learning and of the different organisational structures which higher education institutions use for delivery, including structures which encompass the HE/FE interface. The module will explore the evolution of policy towards Lifelong Learning and how it has been operationalised. It will offer a historical background to higher education's involvement in Lifelong Learning and will consider the organisational and other changes which have taken place in recent years. Lifelong Learning and of the different organisational structures
which higher education institutions use for delivery, including
structures which encompass the HE/FE interface. The module will
explore the evolution of policy towards Lifelong Learning and how
it has been operationalised. It will offer a historical background
to higher education's involvement in Lifelong Learning and will
consider the organisational and other changes which have taken
place in recent years. It will set Lifelong Learning into the
context both of the growth of programmes linking higher education
with industry and of the development of the HE/FE interface aimed
at widening participation. Participants will be asked to consider
the implications of these activities for the structure and
management of higher education institutions and the strategic
issues which they raise.
