These will include increasing critical thinking and reflection; recognition and application of appropriate leadership and management skills; research awareness and process. All of these elements help to develop confidence in each learner in presenting information to colleagues and peers and confirming the individual’s high levels of expertise when working with young peopleWhat qualifications or skills do I require to study this course?
Level 3 qualifications (120 points), GSCE English Language and Mathematics at grade C or above or equivalent. Applicants also need to be working or volunteering in a youth work setting.What does the course involve?
Looking at different aspects of working with young people aged 13 - 19+, reflecting on practice, understanding how legislation impacts what we do. In the first year the following modules will be taught: Youth Worker PPD, Fulfilling Legal and Professional Responsibilities When Working with Young People, Young People’s Development, Meeting Individual Needs of Young People. During the second year the following modules will be taught: Action Research – Work Based Learning, Working with Groups and Teams to support Young People, Leadership and Management in Youth Work Sector, Working in Communities for Young People. This University of Hertfordshire validated course is studied at NHC Stevenage CampusWhat option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? Successful students can progress on to the University of Hertfordshire for the part time Level 6 Degree in Education Studies.
