Course Code: H0067 Academic Progression:The qualification will also enable learners to progress to other ifs industry focussed qualifications, with advanced standing, and subsequently into higher education.
Career Progression:On completion of the qualification, learners will have gained the knowledge to enable them to deal with a range of client situations they can face in the course of providing holistic financial advice. The move in the sector is towards raising the standards of knowledge and the qualification will provide a way in which financial advisers can demonstrate this attainment. The aims and structure of the qualification have been designed and agreed by stakeholders from across the financial services sector, to ensure it is recognised as offering a meaningful and challenging learning experience that is viewed as valuable by learners and their employers.
Full Description:The Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics unit: Explores the environment within which the financial services sector operates.
The Advanced Financial Advice unit:
Develops learners' knowledge of the products, services and
legislation that inform the financial advice and planning process
and their ability to apply this to more complex financial products
and circumstances.
DipFA has also been designed to build upon the skills of communication, research, analysis and critical evaluation that are fundamental to financial advisers' work. This is achieved through the use of specifically developed, innovative teaching materials and a mix of assessment methods.
The learners undertaking the AFA unit will be required to complete coursework that goes beyond book learning and requires them to research and present their reasoned responses. In this the learning programme reflects the processes that the learners will be required to follow in the course of their work. Learners receive feedback on their coursework which contributes towards their final qualification result. On completion of the qualification learners will be able to:
- evaluate and analyse complex information regarding clients' financial circumstances and needs
- research and critically evaluate options and formulate recommendations
- develop plans for the implementation of solutions
- present and explain findings in a logical, clear, and coherent way
- understand the FSA principles-based approach to promoting ethical behaviour
