Hairdressing VRQ Level 2 Diploma
This course is based on practical activities in a work-related environment together with relevant theory and underpinning knowledge. It is taught over 3 days per week, which will include an evening session. The group award is composed of a number of practical units and key skills will be developed through the delivery and assessment of this programme.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This course is suitable for those who hold an award at VRQ Level 1 Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair & Beauty sector or equivalent and hold at least 3 standard grades at a general level, Intermediate 1 or National 4. Hands on experience of at least one year in a hairdressing salon or attainment of a Level 2 Beauty Therapy award will also be considered. Very good communication skills, a willingness to learn new practical skills and working with the general public are essential qualities for working towards the attainment of this qualification. Essential skills will be developed through the delivery and assessment of this programme.
A written test will be carried out as part of the interviewing process.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
Students should have completed SVQ/NVQ Hairdressing Level 1 or have at least 12 months experience in a hairdressing salon environment. Student must want to become a hairdresser and be genuinely interested in the profession. Very good communication and practical skills are required with the ability to develop and learn essential skills. A written test will be carried out as part of the interviewing process.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment is achieved through observation of practical skills demonstrated on clients. Candidates will complete online assessments to attain all knowledge requirements for the hairdressing units. All assessments must be referenced to a student portfolio of work which must be completed in order to pass the course.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students may progress to Hairdressing Level 3 upon completion of this course. Alternatively, students may progress into industry at junior stylist level.
