The programme provides students with the skills and knowledge relevant to work in child, health or social care environments while also developing core skills to enable progression to a higher level of study. A genuine interest in working with people is essential.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is suitable for those who have good Standard Grades (at grade 3 or above), Intermediate 1 level or National 4, have appropriate life skills and experience or have successfully completed a relevant course at introductory level.

There is no work placement offered on this course.

This course is aimed at anyone who wants to work in care but is not sure which area to specialise in.

Learners will be assessed in a variety of ways including: closed book, open book, folio work, question and answer, reports and essays.

PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

On successful completion students may progress onto the NC Health and Social Care (Social Care Route level 6)programme or NC Working with Communities (SCQF level 6)
