Level 2 Art & Design UAL Diploma

This course consists of the following:

Term 1 - Award in Art & Design
The first term provides an opportunity for students to explore their interest in art and design using various materials, methods and processes that support many art and design activities to include:

• Drawing
• Pattern & texture
• Colour work
• Exploration of ideas

Term 2 - Full Diploma
The full diploma will complete the course enabling students to build their skills, knowledge and understanding acquired through the Award. Students will increase their self-confidence, and understanding of the career demands and opportunities within art and design. Students will also be involved in an annual studio-based art show.

The course will provide skills and knowledge in the following:

• Painting
• Drawing
• Design
• Printmaking
• Ceramics

Projects often link to live briefs and competitions.

Students must have ONE of the following:

• 4 GCSEs (3 at grades A*-D and 1 at grade A*-E) including English & Maths
• Level 1 qualification at merit, plus GCSE English & Maths (1 at grade A*-D and 1 at grade A*-E)
• Equivalent qualifications - Functional Skills may be accepted in place of GCSE Maths and/or English

A portfolio of art & design work is also required. Applications from mature students are welcomed.

Adults 19+ who have industry experience BUT do not have the necessary qualifications can be invited in for interview.
