Description

This course takes traditional values and skillsets and applies them to a new platform of interactivity and access. It will cover many different disciplines from print to motion graphics and app design to sonic performance. Students are encouraged to draw inspiration from all areas of art and design as well as bringing their own life experiences to develop an individual visual style. All students will work on live projects for external clients and get the chance to contribute to our award winning FEED Magazine.

The course is designed for anyone with an interest in new directions for Graphics, Illustration, Games and Apps Design and will afford opportunities to work in the broader disciplines of Performance and Sonic Technology.

Entry Requirements

2 A Levels or 4 AS Levels in either Art and Design, Graphics or Media, or a BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design or a Level 3 qualification in an art related subject such as a BTEC National Diploma. Portfolio of work is essential and needs to demonstrate a broad range of skills including typography, drawing and photography. Mature students will be considered on an individual basis with a supporting portfolio. No interview is required for this course. Applicants will be invited to enrol before the course is due to start.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Delivery of the programme will be at the specialist studios on both James Watt and Matthew Boulton (Millennium Point) campuses as well as in external venues on live project events. The assessment is formal at 2 points in each brief and informal during each lesson through personal feedback and group critique.

Progression

Course graduates can progress into employment or onto a full honours degree by completion of one or two additional "top up" years depending on course applied for and student portfolio
