others (eg line managers or those operating in personnel) the
course seeks to build on existing knowledge and skills
development.
The Certificate in Human Resource Practice has been designed to
enable students who come from a variety of backgrounds, including
line managers, secretarial/personnel assistants, clerical staff,
and similar to acquire a wide range of relevant practical personnel
skills with which to become more efficient in their jobs.
The emphasis throughout the course is on active participation by
the student and on practical project work which allows students to
see how their skills are developing, not only in centre exercises,
but also in their place of work. Students are expected to
self-direct their time on the course.
Completion of the Certificate in Human Resource Practice provides
the knowledge required for assessment for the new Associate
professional level of CIPD membership. If students are able to
demonstrate their certificate knowledge in the workplace through
membership assessment (assessing workplace activities and
behaviours), they will be awarded the new Associate professional
level of membership with designatory letters.
There are no formal entry requirements, however prospective
students should be aware that the course requires some report
writing and Microsoft Word skills, as well as a good standard of
written and spoken English.
