Award Units

  • Understand playwork principles - 4 credits
  • Understand children and young people's self-directed play - 5 credits
  • Understand how to safeguard the well-being of children and young people - 3 credits

Certificate Units

  • Understand the organisational framework for play - 4 credits
  • Understand how to support positive outcomes for children and young people - 3 credits
  • Understand relationships in the play environment - 3 credits
  • Understand health, safety and security in the play environment - 2 credits
  • Understand how to plan for and support children and young people's self-directed play - 5 credits
  • Engage in personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings - 3 credits

Entry requirements and hours of study

  • There are no formal entry requirements but you will need to be at least 18 years of age and working or volunteering in a play environment.
  • You will also need to be competent in using the internet and working with electronic documents.
  • This course consists of approximately 300 learning hours.

Assignments

Assessment will consist of a portfolio of evidence in different formats such as learning plans, assignments, discussion and direct observation in the workplace.
