Aims of the course: The pre-Master’s course is offered in collaboration with the Business Studies Department at MVC. The programme is aimed at developing verbal and written English language skills particularly with regard to undertaking postgraduate study and research projects. It will provide a strong foundation for students who wish to progress to Master’s programmes in the UK Higher Education system. How long is the course: One year from September to June.   • Qualitative and quantitative research
  • Analysing the data
  • An introduction to CAQDAS (Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software)

Presenting the findings

  • Academic speaking skills
  • Making effective presentations

Writing your dissertation/thesis

  • The Academic Word List
  • Structuring your dissertation
  • References and bibliographies
  • Plagiarism

General academic English support

  • Academic listening, reading and note taking
  • Advanced Academic Writing 1
  • Advanced Academic Writing 2
  • Academic Vocabulary and the Academic Word List
  • Academic Speaking
  • Advanced General Grammar

2         Economics and the Business Environment: it will examine the complex interactions that operate between the economic and business environments.  

3         Information and Communication Skills and Digital Literacy: How new social media can be used to search information sources and co-construct knowledge in new learning environments.

All students on the Pre-Masters course are required to complete a Research Project.
