PURPOSEThe Graduate Diploma in Biomedical Sciences & Scientific English provides a discipline-specific pathway (pre-master's year) into taught and research-based science master's level programmes for international students who need to improve their academic subject and/or scientific English skills. Students progress in their chosen science subject at a measured pace that allows optimal application of their intellect and experience at master's level.

DESCRIPTION

The Graduate Diploma in Biomedical Sciences & Scientific English is a one-year full-time programme designed for international students with scientific backgrounds who wish to study at postgraduate level for an MSc or PhD but do not yet have the required English language or academic skills for direct entry. This programme enables students to become familiar with biomedical English language and to develop the academic skills required for the intensive pace of study at master's level.

The programme combines study of topics in biomedicine with the development of English, study skills and critical thinking skills. By the end of the programme, students will have improved their overall language and academic skills and have a more detailed understanding of current research in their chosen discipline. Those who meet the required standard will progress on to their chosen master's degree, currently one of the following programmes:

  • MSc Pharmaceutical Analysis & Quality Control
