The aim is to provide high-quality learning opportunities through flexible qualifications at level 4 that prepares for progression to more in depth study at this level to higher level study, or with a first line manager role The objective is to develop theoretical concepts relating to business management studies which can be examined externally and which focus on the breadth and depth of managing modern business environments, in both generic and specific areas.

Level 4 qualifications aim to give practicing or potential first line managers the opportunity for further formal development in this role. The qualifications do this by further developing first line management understanding and assisting participants in gaining the knowledge required at these levels. Students do not have to be currently employed to study these qualifications, but may be engaged in voluntary activity or planning for work. There are no formal entry requirements, but participants will have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programmes
