Gain further skills including scales, chords and play more advanced pieces.  An opportunity to enter for the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) accreditation is optional.

Additional costs may be incurred for the materials used during the course and fee for the optional examination.

Learner & Entry Requirements: 

For learners who have completed the Beginners course (or who have acquired a similar level of skill).  Learners need daily access to a piano/keyboard for practice.

General & First Session:

Pencil and paper.  If continuing from beginners course - any appropriate worksheets/music books from the course.  If not from beginners course, bring a piece of music that you CAN play, but do not purchase any items specifically for the course until after the first class.  KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objective: 

To develop your (piano/keyboard) skills to ABRSM standard.

You should have developed sufficient skills and confidence to take the ABRSM Preparatory Test (optional).

Assessment: 

Continuous.  The opportunity to enter the ABRSM Test.

Course Syllabus: 

Sharps, flats and key signatures, scales and broken chords, listening skills, playing more advanced pieces on a keyboard with both hands, performance skills, playing to an audience.
