- At least a years experience of painting and drawing in any media
- An interest in Art History
- No formal qualifications needed
What you will need for your first session:
If you have any of the following items please bring them but do not purchase them specifically for the course until after the first class. KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.
- Any art materials all ready purchased
- A3 Sketchpad and selection of pencils, pens or charcoal

- Understand and discuss a range of styles of painting from traditional to modern
- Work both individually and together on a range of topics
- Explore a range of media
- Understand and work safely with materials
- Develop a range of paintings that explore the painting process
On this course you will develop the following skills:
- Working in a range of media that could include watercolour, acrylic, gouache and pastel
- Developing skills in brush handling and use of drawing media
- Understand more about painting in its historical context
- Gain confidence and ability to review processes and to assess work achieved
Assessment – (homework, on line tests, and/or exams):
- Group review,
- sketchbook and folder of work
- Homework and research undertaken
- Tutors progress monitoring
- photographic evidence
