This course is for you if you want to continue a vocational experience of general art and design at an advanced level.

The first year enables you to explore and experiment with a wide range of art and design materials and processes; contextual studies is included throughout the course. During the second year you will be able to follow a specialist pathway within the area of fine arts, sculpture and ceramics, 3D design, photography, printmaking, illustration, or fashion and textiles, as well as completing a final major project that will be included in a public exhibition.Functional skills also form a part of the course.

Assessment is carried out internally by tutors. Coursework is continuously assessed on completion of projects, assignments and a final major project.What does the course lead to?
This is a nationally recognised qualification which is equivalent to three A Levels. It will provide you with an art and design portfolio to support an application to Higher Education as well as the practical skills required for employment with further training.Entry requirements
Applicants must have either four GCSEs at grade A-C including English and Art and Design, or a Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design with a Merit profile, plus English at A-C or an equivalent Level 2 Literacy qualification.Mature applicants who do not have these qualifications may still be eligible, subject to interview. All applicants need to present a broad portfolio of art and design work.
