What is the Course About?

Before you can enter this exciting world you must learn all the basics. The course is designed to develop all the skills you will require to enable you to become a Hair Stylist. You will experience all aspects of practical Hairdressing and complete units required by City and Guilds. You will get involved in the buzz of the training salon with a regular clientele. There will be the opportunity to show your artistic skills by entering College Hair Competitions and to travel off Island to Hairdressing shows. In your first year you will be trained in manicure.

What is the Course About?

There will be the opportunity to show your artistic skills by entering College Hair Competitions and to travel off Island to Hairdressing shows. In your first year you will be trained in manicure.

The course is practically based with the necessary theory of underpinning knowledge to ensure complete understanding of all aspects of Hairdressing. You will have to learn basic rules of chemistry, physics, anatomy, biology, physiology and mathematics.

Course fees are inclusive of tuition, assessment and registration fees. Additional fees will be required for salon uniform, relevant kit and equipment - full details available during the induction.

The length of the course is 35 weeks - 6hrs per week.
What Subjects will I study?

Make sure your own actions reduce the risks to health and safety.
Give clients a positive image of self and organisation.
Fulfil salon reception duties.
Advise and consult with clients.
Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp.
Cut hair using basic techniques.
Style and finish hair.
Set and dress hair.
Plait and twist hair.
Colour hair using basic techniques.
Perm and neutralise hair using basic techniques.
Manicure.
