If you plan to pursue a career in hairdressing, then this is the course for you. This level 2 course will give you a broad base of knowledge and includes all the relevant health and safety requirements to become an effective practitioner within this vocational area.

If you plan to pursue a career in hairdressing, then this is the course for you. This level 2 course will give you a broad base of knowledge and includes all the relevant health and safety requirements to become an effective practitioner within this vocational area.

During this intensive course you will learn how to perform the following hairdressing skills: shampoo and conditioning treatments, blow drying, using a variety of heated appliances, setting/styling long hair, cutting hair and providing colouring services. Additionally you will also learn client care, the importance of communication, the relevance of the consultation process, how to follow health and safety practice in the salon, providing suitable aftercare advice.
You will attend college over 3 to 4 days a week participating in classroom, practical and salon sessions to gain hands-on experience. Your timetable will have a mixture of both theory and practical subjects. Between 90 and 100% attendance is imperative for successful completion.
This course also includes a work experience programme in our Graduate Salon, providing an invaluable link to industry and helping to support this intensive program. This course also requires a large amount of self-directed study to ensure successful completion.
Additionally all students will undertake English and maths depending on their GCSE results in these subjects.

You will gain the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing and a functional skill in English Maths or ICT. You will also gain wider personal development skills vital for success in further study or employment. These skills include self confidence, working with others taking responsibility and time management.

A good standard of education is required. A satisfactory college interview is necessary, together with a supportive reference. Four GCSEs at grade A – D are desirable for mature students but mandatory for all 16+ students, or completion of Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing.
Your offer is subject to a short interview, full commitment to 100% attendance and a minimum of three hours home study a week, both of which are required to assure successful completion.

On successful completion of the course you can progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing or become a junior stylist in a salon.

All students will be expected to purchase a hairdressing kit and uniform as part of their commitment to this course.
