Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector is an initial teaching qualification for people who would like to teach in the Lifelong Learning sector. It is suitable for people with no experience of teaching, people who work as assessors, people who volunteer to support teaching, and people who are teaching but have not received a qualification. Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector is an initial teaching qualification for people who would like to teach in the Lifelong Learning sector. It is suitable for people with no experience of teaching, people who work as assessors, people who volunteer to support teaching, and people who are teaching but have not received a qualification. It is a practical, dynamic and trainee-centred course which aims to provide an awareness of teaching and learning.
You will learn a wide variety of approaches to identify learner
needs and to support learning. You will become familiar with
methods and strategies for teaching and supporting learning,
learning objectives, motivating learners, designing and teaching a
lesson, and preparing suitable resources.
The course is delivered by blended learning and you will have
access to a virtual learning environment to support your classroom
sessions.
You will gain a certificate in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector, the nationally recognised initial teaching qualification for those in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
You need GCSE English at Grade C or above, or its equivalent. Alternatively you must be able to demonstrate that you have Level 2 literacy skills. You will also need to attend an interview.
If you would like to teach in the Lifelong Learning sector you may wish to obtain a Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) to work as an associate, or Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS). If you wish to become fully qualified you will also need to possess a subject specialist qualification.
