Course Content
This course aims to provide a general understanding of the practical and theoretical components of animal management. The course is suited to students who wish to pursue a career in the animal care industry and offers the opportunity to develop skills whilst working with a wide range of animals. There will be the opportunity to progress into a second year to achieve a L3 diploma/Extended Diploma in Animal Management. Course Content

There will be the opportunity to progress into a second year to achieve a L3 diploma/Extended Diploma in Animal Management. The course covers a variety of related module and may include: Animal accommodation Animal anatomy and physiology Animal Feeding Animal handling safe working Animal health Exotic animal management Work related experience. Functional skills in one of the following will be completed during the year; English, maths or IT at Level 2 or 3 depending on ability

Practical, written assignments for all units
Progression
Students generally progress onto the Extended Diploma in Animal Management with the potential to progress to a Higher Education course, however direct entry to full time employment or an animal based apprenticeship are also possible career paths. Career opportunities within the animal industry on successful completion of the Subsidiary Diploma may include: Kennel/cattery supervisor, Assistant dog groomer, rescue centre supervisor, wildlife rehabilitation officer.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs (Grade A - C to include Science and English or a merit in an Animal related Level 2 Diploma).
