assignments, case studies, oral questioning and practical
application.
You take part in classroom practical and salon sessions to gain
hands-on experience of these treatments.
Approximately one third of your time in College is classroom based
and you are set assignments and homework too. The remaining time is
spent in the practical working salon to practise and perform
different treatments. There is a strong emphasis on working and
learning with others and you also need to be able to work
independently
The qualification you gain is VTCT Level 1 Diploma in an Introduction to Hair and Beauty. You also gain wider personal development skills vital for success in further study or employment. They include self confidence, working with others, taking responsibility and time management. By the end of the course you will have benefited from a valuable insight in future study or careers open to you.
Applicants for a Level 1 programme will normally have:
- A strong interest in their chosen programme of study
- The commitment to work towards improving English and Maths as
part of the programme
- The ability to discuss past experiences of education and future
ambitions in an interview
Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an
internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and
numeracy needs supported within the programme.
On successful completion of the course you can progress to other full-time beauty therapy or hairdressing qualifications - see our Level 2 courses here at City of Oxford College.
