Gain an understanding of the construction sector with the Level 1 Diploma in Trowel Trades. You learn about design, construction, valuation and use and different job roles such as craft and operative technician. You also cover the impact of the built environment on society, business and the environment.

Areas covered include:
• Health and safety in construction
• Basic tool skills
• Setting out
• Basic bricklaying
• Theory of subject

You learn functional skills too.

You are assessed on practical activities and job knowledge.

You develop and build on practical skills and knowledge through a range of units. Functional skills will also form part of the course.

Applicants for a Level 1 programme will normally have:
- A strong interest in their chosen programme of study
- The commitment to work towards improving English and Maths as part of the programme
- The ability to discuss past experiences of education and future ambitions in an interview

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

This course prepares you for employment as a work-based learner apprentice in brickwork or further study at Level 2.
