Overview

About This Course:

These courses introduce and develop the skills and knowledge you’ll need for sports coaching. The principles of good coaching practice are examined and a wide practical and theoretical knowledge of games and sports is developed. You will also have the opportunity to qualify for Sports Coaching awards from National Governing Bodies.

You will lead practical coaching sessions, in college and in schools. An Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check will require to be successfully completed before you coach young people in schools.

  • We recommend that you are at least 16 at the start of the course – this will allow you to go on to an HNC
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience
  • Offers are subject to attending an interview where you should demonstrate your interest and knowledge/skills in sport

What You Study:

Some of the subjects you’ll study include: Sporting Activities –Basketball / Badminton / Volleyball, NPA Exercise & Fitness, NPA Sport & Fitness / Coaching and Development, Sport & Recreation: Developing Volunteering.

After The Course:

Career

Sports development officers, sports co-ordinators and other positions.
