This course will give you an introduction to knowledge and skills needed to work in a primary, secondary or special school environment, in a role that supports teaching and learning. You will also explore the requirements of safeguarding and the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion. You will learn about schools as organisations, including what types of schools there are, about policies and procedures and the wider environment in which they operate. You will develop your communication skills, communicating and building professional relationships with both children and young people and adults. Gaining work experience in a childcare setting will form a key part of your learning, so you will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement during the course.

What next

You could progress to the CACHE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 at the college or another level 3 course in a related subject.
