Programme for people working within a Health & Social Care Setting with Children and Young People

What will I study?There are 3 routes for children and young people’s services:
- Children and Young people’s Residential Management
- Children and Young people’s Management
- Children and Young people’s Advanced Practice
Each of the awards is based on an amount of Credits.
Level 5 Diploma is made up of 80 credits, with mandatory and
option units depending on individual role and responsibilities.
Some of the topics you will cover will be:
- Use and develop systems that promote communication
- Promote professional development
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
- Develop health and safety and risk management
- Working in partnership
You must be employed as a manager, deputy manager or advanced practitioner in an appropriate Children and Young People’s care setting.
DurationYou will be on programme for 18 months. During this time you will be expected to attend an Induction session and twelve 3 hour workshops.
AssessmentYou will be assessed by an approved assessor, who will visit you in your workplace to observe and assess your practical work. You will submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.
Qualification achievedLevel 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children and Young people’s services.
FeesYou may be eligible for funding; this will be discussed at interview.
Where next?These qualifications replace the Level 4 NVQ in Leadership and Management for Care Services and the NVQ Level 4 Health and Social Care, which are accepted as entry requirements to a number of HEI programmes. This qualification is the accepted qualification for registration and regulatory requirements for the sector in England and can demonstrate continuing professional development.
