Summary:
This Work-Based Learners course is designed for apprentices/trainees and adults who are currently employed within the carpentry or bench joinery area of the construction industry.
Once you have gained the NVQ Level 2 you can apply for a CSCS card.
Course Code: B5265 Entry Requirements:You should normally be currently employed within the carpentry or bench joinery industry. It will be necessary for you to provide evidence from your workplace of tasks you have undertaken in a real work situation, and therefore you should have access to an appropriate range of carpentry or bench joinery tasks.
Assessment:The NVQ level 2 is a flexible programme in which you build up a portfolio of evidence to prove your ability. You will be guided throughout the assessment process by your course assessor, who will discuss the requirements of the NVQ level 2 qualification with you and draw up an individual action plan for you to follow. In bringing your evidence together, you will be expected to work largely in your own time and will attend college for tutorials and guidance. You will be required to provide evidence from your workplace across a broad range of carpentry or bench joinery tasks. In order to prove that this has been done you will build a portfolio. This logs the work you have completed and is signed by an approved person. An assessor from the college then assesses this work. It may be necessary to visit your workplace to confirm your evidence, which your assessor will arrange between you and your employer as appropriate.
If you have completed a Level 2 Craft Diploma in Construction or an Intermediate Construction Award within the last two years you can use the evidence gained for these qualifications to count towards the NVQ Level 2, provided it is not more than two years old.
Academic Progression:If you remain in suitable employment you may continue with your studies and undertake the NVQ level 3 in Wood Occupations (Site Work or Bench Joinery).
