LEVEL 1 CARPENTRY & JOINERY
This course has both theory and practical parts which will
prepare you for work in Carpentry and Joinery. You will
learn:
-How to carry out Safe Working Practices
-Information, Quantities and Communicating with others
-Building Methods and Construction Technology
-Produce Basic Woodworking Joints
-Maintain and use Carpentry and Joinery Hand Tools
-Prepare and use Carpentry and Joinery Portable Power
Tools
Essential skills will also be provided to support and develop numeracy and literacy skills, along with an Introduction to Employment and an Introduction to Basic Costing.

Assessment is by a range of methods, which may include assignments, projects, case studies, practical exercises, question and answer papers, portfolio building.
What qualifications you need
Applicants are required to have 4 GCSEs at grade E or above or
successfully completed the Skills for Construction course or
equivalent qualification or experience. You will be required to
attend an interview with the Course Tutor.
Candidates will need to provide suitable clothing and safety foorwear for practical workshop sessions. Stationery equipment and materials will also be required.
Where to next
Learners can go on to progress on to Level 2 Bench Joinery, Level 2 Site Carpentry, Level 2 Construction and The Built Environment (with GCSEs) or an Apprenticeship.
