Course Code: A3599 Start Date: 10/09/2012 End Date: 12/07/2013 Course Length: One year Entry Requirements:You do not need formal qualifications but you will need to demonstrate a positive attitude to learning, motivation and enthusiasm. We will invite you for an interview to make sure that this is the right programme for you before offering you a place.
Assessment:You will work towards completing the various units through a mix of internal and external assignments, practical activities and group work - all designed to reflect the real business world.
Academic Progression:You can use this course as a stepping stone up to the next level of qualification in Travel and Tourism, such as the BTEC First Diploma in Travel and Tourism.
Career Progression:You may decide to use the qualification to start your career in the Travel and Tourism industries at a trainee level. Career opportunities include Travel Consultant, Customer Service Assistant or Tourist Information Assistant.
Full Description:The programme is made up of 11 different units; 7 mandatory units worth 11 credits and 7 optional units worth 26 credits. The units will provide a general foundation of the Travel and Tourism industry and introduce you to particular topics such as the role of overseas resort representative in more depth.

2 The UK Tourism Industry 3 Credits
3 Customer Service in Travel and Tourism 3 Credits
3 Locational Geography 1 Credit
Optional Group B - a minimum of 26 credits
7 Recommending holidays to suit customers needs 4 Credits
8 World Wide Travel and Tourism destinations 4 Credits
9 The role of overseas Resort Representatives 2 Credits
10 Travel and Tourism Itineraries 3 Credits
12 Promotional materials for Travel and Tourism 4 Credits
13 Planning for and taking part in a visit 3 Credits
15 Preparing for employment in Travel and Tourism 6 Credits
You will also complete a City and Guilds Certificate in Personal and Social Development. You will complete the following units:

Functional Skills
You can study either at Entry 3 or Level 1 in Maths, English and ICT
