Full TimeThis course will prepare you for work within Health and Social Care. You will study a range of topics including Communication and Individual Rights, Individual Needs in Health and Social Care, Human Lifespan and Creative and Therapeutic Activities and Anatomy and Physiology. You will also take part in work experience within a range of care settings which is a mandatory element of the course. You will also study essential skills, wider key skills and Welsh as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate.

How you will gain the qualification
A grading scale of pass, merit or distinction, is applied to the 8 internally assessed units of study. All units are assessed through a range of assignments. Each unit has specified criteria to be used for grading, Certificate & Extended Certificate is also available. A portfolio of evidence will be assessed. You must also pass the placement element of the course.
What qualifications you need
At least 4 GCSEs at grades A* to D, including English or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification at Distinction.
Where to next
Students may progress directly into employment in a range of care settings including, Care Assistant, Healthcare Support Worker, Project Worker, Youth Worker or Day Care. With a good end course grade e.g. Diploma in Health and Social Care Distinction, students are encouraged to progress to the Level 3 BTEC 90 Credit Diploma in Health and Social Care or the Level 3 Childcare.
