Certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social Care

Programme for people wanting to work within a Health & Social Care Setting. Course Overview

This is a part time course for adults who want to gain a qualification in Health and Social Care. It does not confirm competence but relates to the knowledge elements in the mandatory units of the Health and Social Care Diploma at Level 2.

What will I study?

You will complete 9 mandatory units (20 credits):

• Communication
• Equality, diversity and inclusion
• Personal development
• Role of the social care worker
• Handling information
• Health & safety
• Safeguarding
• Duty of care
• Person centred approaches

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements but learners will be expected to have an interest in health and social care.

Duration

You will be on programme for twelve months. During this time you will be expected to attend weekly taught sessions in college.

Assessment

You will be assessed by the successful completion of assignments for each unit. Assignments are marked by the tutor and feedback given. You will submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.

Qualification achieved

Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social Care.

This will be discussed at interview

Where next?

You may progress to a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) qualification if you are employed or working as a volunteer in a relevant health and social care setting.
