About This CourseThe course will appeal to students who have a keen interest in health and social care and wish to study a practical work related course. The course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grade C and above. The topics you may study include: - Cultural diversity in Health and Social Care - Human lifespan development - Anatomy and physiology for Health and Social Care - Individual needs in Health and Social Care - Individual rights in Health and Social Care - Vocational experience in a Health or Social Care setting These qualifications will be assessed by coursework, which included projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities and on work placement

Additional Notes Entry CriteriaAll prospective students will be interviewed before a place can be awarded. You will need to have achieved three GCSEs at grade A*-C to include English, or have been awarded a level 1 in a relevant course along with Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 1. Candidates must also have a good reference and progressing students from level 1 must also have a good college attendance record and demonstrated a positive approach to work and achieving targets. Mature learners will be assessed at interview and will require evidence of a good work record. Attendance and participation in a course taster event is also required You will need to be at least 16 years of age and demonstrate an interest in working in the health and social care sector. To work with children (under 18) or vulnerable adults students will need to complete an enhanced disclosure check for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The college will organise this for you but you will have to pay. Full details regarding payment and documents required will be provided prior to enrolment
Progression DetailsOn successful completion you may progress to a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care which prepares you for employment in Registered Care Homes, Housing, Community Work in the voluntary sector or Hospitals and Primary Care Trusts. Or you pay progress directly in to employment.
