Course content
This course provides an introduction to counselling training as well as counselling skills to enhance relationships and involves group discussions, listening skills practice, communication skills and self awareness exercises.
10 Weeks – 30 GLH
- Understanding of the basics of counselling, professional context and relationships; introduction to the skills used by a counsellor and introduction to personal development. You will be assessed through weekly reflective journals and skills assessments there is no external assessment.
- A one to one or brief telephone interview is required.

Entry requirements
Experience with working with others including children, any previous counselling experience or psychology qualifications obtained. If you do not have any of this then the 'Steps to Counselling' is recommended as a beginning level.
Progression
CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Skills Level 2.
Dates and times
2012/13 courses run three times over the year, or Tuesdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Courses begin 18 September 2012, 8 January 2013, and 16 April 2013.
