Level 2 Extended Certificate in Art & Design
The BTEC Extended Certificate in Art & Design is for
students who require a general L2 Art & Design based
qualification. The course is practical and students will learn how
to produce a range of art & design work through a variety of
assignments. The specialist areas that may be studied are Graphic
Design, Photography, Fashion, Textiles, 3D Design, Visual Arts and
Ceramics. The course offers an opportunity to improve your GCSE
qualifications in Maths and English and provides a good basis to go
on to a more advanced work-related qualification or employment.

What Subjects will I study?
The course is made up of four units - 3 core units that everyone
takes and 1 specialist unit. The specialist units enable you to
study a particular area in more depth.
All students take the 3 core units:
2D and 3D Visual Communication, Contextual References in Art &
Design.
Explore and Develop Art & Design Ideas and produce Art &
Design Outcome.
In addition, you will resit Maths and English GCSEs if you have
achieved below a C or take an additional GCSE in Media or
Psychology or Photography.
