Who is this course for? This course is for students who want to improve their literacy skills and are working at L1 or L2. But you are also interested in improving your IT skills. You must enrol fully to have a place in the class. What qualifications or experience do I need ? You do not need qualifications to start this course. Your reading, writing and speaking should all be very nearly at the level of the course. To find out your reading and writing level we will give you an assessment, and to find out your speaking and listening level we will have a discussion about literacy with you. Who is this course for? This course is for students who want to improve their literacy skills and are working at L1 or L2. But you are also interested in improving your IT skills. You must enrol fully to have a place in the class. What qualifications or experience do I need ? You do not need qualifications to start this course. Your reading, writing and speaking should all be very nearly at the level of the course. To find out your reading and writing level we will give you an assessment, and to find out your speaking and listening level we will have a discussion about literacy with you. A very basic familiarity with IT will be required What will I study ? Reading, writing, spelling, speaking and listening and group discussion at the levels in the course title. In addition you will do this in the context of using IT packages such as email, the internet, word processors, and improve your skills using a computer. Classes are 5 hours per week on one day. How will I be assessed ? Levels 1 and 2: National Literacy Tests (1hour). What qualifications could I achieve ? City & Guilds 3792 Certificate in Adult Literacy at Level 1 or 2. What can the course lead to ? Students can progress to vocational courses, other further education courses including Access ( if achieving L2), training or employment. How do I join the course ? At the start of the year, attend an advertised enrolment session. You must enrol fully to have a place in the class. If starting later phone Course Information on 020 8266 4000. Will I need an interview ? You will have a personal interview to assess your skills and you will receive advice about suitable classes. This may take up to 2 hours Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? No Further Information Basic skills are only available to ages 19+
