This course helps you to develop the knowledge and communication skills required by care professionals. It is the same level as GCSE. All assessment is by coursework and support is provided to help you to succeed.

- Individual needs in Health & Social Care
- Ensuring safe environments in Health & Social Care

Functional skills at level 2 for English will also be studied. Note: course content is subject to change in 2012, but these changes will be added as soon as we have the information available.
Teaching and assessment
All assessment is through coursework. Units are assessed by the completion of projects, assignments or presentations. Units are also graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. You will be required to complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations. Methods of teaching include, role plays, discussions, peer/groupwork, written and practical exercises. You are required to attend one day per week of work experience. (Assessment may change when the examining board update this course in 2012.)
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs, grades A*- D or equivalent, or Foundation Learning qualification of at least 37 credits with Functional Skills English at Level 1.
CRB clearance & suitable reference
Additional course costs
You are required to buy two textbooks and fund your CRB check.
Progression
90 Credit Diploma in Health and Social Care or employment/training.
