Who is the course for?

Delegates must be 18 or over and have a keen interest in this subject.

What will I study?

The aim of the course is to give a basic introduction to wine, followed by some basic food and wine matching.

The qualification introduces delegates to:

  • The main styles of wine
  • The WSET Level 1 systematic approach to tasting
  • The characteristics of the common grape varieties used to produce wine
  • Service of wine
  • Health, safety and legal issues
  • The matching of food and wine
How will the course be delivered?

Course Entry Criteria

There are no entry criteria other than a keen interest in this subject.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

  • More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
  • 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
  • 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
  • 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
  • Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

To gain the qualification delegates need to successfully complete a portfolio of tasting notes and a multiple-choice paper of 30 questions.

The course is priced at £110.00 per delegate (prices are subject to change), which includes tuition, WSET registration and certification fees.
