Programme for people working within a Health & Social Care Setting – Apprenticeship Route.

Course Overview

This is a part time course for adults who are employed in a Health & social care setting. You will demonstrate how you meet a set of National Occupational Standards for the role of a health care worker and show that you have the level of skills and knowledge to complete your work effectively.

As part of your learning you will be required to achieve a Functional Skills Qualification in English and Maths. This part of your course will develop vital problem solving skills ensuring you are well equipped for success in learning and life. If you have trouble calculating ratios to meet staffing regulations or writing written reports Functional Skills will help you gain these skills.

What will I study?

  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Level 3 Preparing to work in Adult Social Care
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
  • Level 2 – Functional Skills in:
  • Mathematics
  • English

You will complete 9 mandatory units (28 credits) and various optional units from a wide choice. Each of the awards is based on an amount of Credits.

Level 3 Diploma is made up of 58 credits.

  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Communication
  • Person Centred Care
  • Health & safety

Entry Requirements

  • You must be employed in an appropriate Health & Social care setting.

Duration

You will be on programme for eighteen months. During this time you will be expected to attend an Induction session and weekly half day taught sessions.

Assessment

You will complete assignments to cover the knowledge elements of the award. You will also be assessed by an approved assessor, who will visit you in your workplace to observe and assess your practical work. You will submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.

Qualification achieved

Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care. This is a full level 3 qualification to enable adults to work in a Health & Social Care setting. Employment Rights and Responsibilities, Level 2 Function Skills in Maths and English.
