Our Nursing in Health and Social Care Level 3 Diploma, which is brand new for 2014, offers a progression route for people who want to develop a career within the health and social care sector.
It gives you the chance to apply new skills in a vocational setting and develop specialist skills which will enhance your employability.
You attend College for two days a week and spend the rest of the week in the workplace. Subjects covered include:

setting where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge
you acquire.
English and maths for the sector is embedded across the course
too.
You are taught within a peer group and there will be opportunity to
share practice with other professionals. The course is based on
continuous assessment and the successful achievement of vocational
competencies.
You gain an enhanced vocational experience and specific
specialist input on accredited units related to caring for elderly
people in residential nursing homes. You have the opportunity to
develop professional practice and build your CV with relevant
employability skills.
At the end of the course you will have access to employers who may
be recruiting, and you will receive a professional reference.
You need:
- a Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification
- good communication skills and the desire to develop excellent
professional behaviors and skills related the health and social
care sector
- a clear DBS (Disclosure Barring Service)
On successful completion this course could lead you directly
into employment within the health and social care sector.
You may choose to further your education and knowledge with a
foundation degree (e.g. for assistant practitioners) or use the
vocational experience gained to enhance your application for a
nursing degree.
