This course is a recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma which gives adults with experience outside of formal education the opportunity to enter higher education to train for a career within the health and social care sector in such areas as counselling and mental health.
Course content
The aim of the course is to equip students with the skills, knowledge and techniques which will allow them to be successful at university. Learners will also have the opportunity to study Mathematics and English at GCSE level if not already achieved at grade C or higher.*

Access courses offer opportunities for adult learners whose circumstances have prevented them from reaching their academic potential.
Entry Requirements
Adults with experience outside of formal education. Entry to the course is through an initial assessment to determine Level 2 aptitude in Numeracy and Literacy; plus an individual interview with a member of the specialist team to establish that students will benefit and succeed on the course.
Delivery & Assessment methods
As a guideline most modules are assessed by a combination of coursework and examinations. Coursework may involve essays, presentations, discussions and/or portfolios of evidence. This is a full time programme and learners should be aware that classes can be at any time between 9am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. You will be expected to attend for 15 hours per week for the main programme. (*additional hours may be necessary for the study of English and/or Maths)
