Access to HE -Education Professions
This course is a recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma which gives adults with experience outside of formal education the opportunity to enter higher education to train for a career within the Education Professions/Education sector.
Course content
The aim of the course is to equip students with the skills, knowledge and techniques which will allow them to be successful at university. Learners will also have the opportunity to study Mathematics, English and Science at GCSE level if not already achieved at grade C or higher.

Entry Requirements
Adults with experience outside of formal education. Entry to the course is through an initial assessment to determine Level 2 aptitude in Numeracy and Literacy; plus an individual interview with a member of the specialist team to establish that students will benefit and succeed on the course. Please note: Students will be required to obtain a successful CRB check prior to study (you will be advised at interview of this process) Students will be required to secure and undertake a suitable placement within a school as part of the programme. Please contact the course tutors to identify which day of the week you will be expected to do this.
Delivery & Assessment methods
As a guideline most modules are assessed by a combination of coursework and examinations. Coursework may involve essays, presentations, discussions and/or portfolios of evidence. The course also includes assessment of a short micro-teach and a placement portfolio. This is a full time programme and learners should be aware that classes can be at any time between 9am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. You will be expected to attend for 15 hours per week for the main programme. (*additional hours may be necessary for the study of English and/or Maths). You will have free periods throughout the week which may mean that some days you may start later and/or finish earlier.
Progression
A range of degrees within the educational sector including Primary Education. Subject degrees prior to PGCE for learners wishing to enter Secondary education or FE teaching
