Description

This subject will introduce students to the various hardware and software technologies used in ICT and how to apply them to different applications in the modern world. The course will also provide a solid grounding in ICT areas such transferring data, backups and the interface between people and ICT systems.

Students will study two units in year 1 and two units in year 2.

Delivery & Assessment methods

At AS Level, assessment is by two 1.5 hour external examinations, comprising short answer questions and structured response questions. At A2 there is a 2 hour examination based on pre release material and also extended questions. Students will also complete a project during the year requiring the production of an ICT related system. Examinations take place in January and June. Students must pass at AS Level to progress onto A2.

Progression

The qualification is normally studied alongside other A Levels and successful completion will help gain entry to higher education or employment.
