Course Level: 3 Time NeededStudents are required to attend College for one day a week. In
2012 this will be a Monday or Tuesday for Years 12 and 13.
Times of attendance are between 9.15am – 4.50pm.
The aim is to meet the needs of learners working towards a career with an armed or blue light uniformed public service allowing students to tailor their learning to the uniformed public service they are interested in, develop practical skills required for employment and work on their fitness levels ready for pre-entry tests. We use facilities around the campus and local to our location in order to help develop learners in a number of key areas and with strong link…

Units include:
- Government , Policies and Public Services
- Team Leadership in the Uniformed Public Services
- Citizenship, Contemporary Society and the Public Services
- Skills for Land-Based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
- Skills for Water-Based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
- Land Navigation by Map and Compass
The teaching of these subjects will be a combination of both theory and practical sessions as well as independent research.
Functional Skills
You will also work towards nationally recognised functional
qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.
Assessment strategies will consist of written evidence, research, reports, practical assessments and presentations.
ProgressionSuccessful learners may progress to a Higher Education programme or employment.
The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma earns UCAS Tariff points which combined with A levels can gain entrance into University.
All progression routes are reliant upon the student reaching certain levels in Literacy and Numeracy.
