The BTEC Level 2 in Uniformed Public Services is an ideal qualification for those interested in a career in the Fire Service, Police or Military. The qualification is delivered by experienced service men and women who can guide you to developing the skills and abilities required for your chosen career path.

You must be prepared to study for a minimum of 18 hours a week. Practical fitness testing and frequent expeditions such as mountain biking, skiing, camping and scuba diving are examples of challenges you will face throughout the course. - Improving health and fitness for entry to the uniformed public services
- Employment in the uniformed public services
- Adventurous activities and teamwork for the public services
- Sport and recreation in the public services
- Land navigation by map and compass
- Attending emergency incidents in public services
- Security procedures in the public services
- English & Maths GCSE or Functional Skills
This is a practical based course that involves regular visits to military and police units. You will have the opportunity to work with many local community Services. Skills and knowledge are assessed through developing a portfolio of evidence. Case studies, work related projects and written assignments are continual throughout the programme.
Entry Requirements
You will require a minimum level of fitness to participate in all the elements of this course and a minimum of four GCSEs at grade D or above which include English or Mathematics. Alternatively, a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Public Services with Functional Skills English and Maths are accepted. We will request a supporting reference from your tutor/school.
Delivery & Assessment methods
Your progress will be regularly monitored and tracked by your Course Tutor. Study support sessions are offered to all our learners and we have an excellent learning support zone that provides small group and 1-2-1 tuition.
