School for Aspiring Chefs

Who is this course for? Are you in year 10 or year 11 at school? Are you interested in all things food? This course will be suitable for you if you have � A passion for food A dream of working as a chef when you are older What qualifications or experience do I need ? We will need a satisfactory reference from your school teacher What will I study ? The course has been devised by chefs for the next generation of chefs. You will have fun in the kitchen exploring a range of new foods and cooking techniques. Stir Fry Shallow fry Deep Fry Poach Braise Steam How will I be assessed ? Non assessed course, candidates will be encouraged to build a portfolio of photographic evidence, for use when applying for courses in the future. What qualifications could I achieve ? Certificate of completion, This is a hands on course. We aim for you to feel comfortable in the kitchen by the end of the 15 week programme and confident enough to progress. What can the course lead to ? Successful completion of this programme will lead to a summer work placement and the opportunity to progress to a full time VRQ 1 Chef's Diploma or NVQ Professional Chef's Apprenticeship How do I join the course ? Selection is by completion of an application form (either online or from our Part Time prospectus) along with a satisfactory reference, followed by a successful interview.
