Who is this course for? People recovering from mental health difficulties that are at a stage in their recovery where they are able to benefit from being and studying at college. What qualifications or experience do I need ? People should be at a stage in their recovery where they are ready to make a commitment to the course, attend regularly and be able to cope with the college environment. Students will need to be able to demonstrate that they have literacy skills at E2 or above, either through existing qualifications or by talking a test at interview. What will I study ? What qualifications or experience do I need ? People should be at a stage in their recovery where they are ready to make a commitment to the course, attend regularly and be able to cope with the college environment. Students will need to be able to demonstrate that they have literacy skills at E2 or above, either through existing qualifications or by talking a test at interview. What will I study ? A selection of modules from: IT, English, Maths, Art Cookery, Sport and Core Module. There will also be the opportunity for work experience, and a variety of social activities. How will I be assessed ? Some modules are assessed through a portfolio of work built up over the year. Functional Skills English, Maths & ICT are assessed by examination. What qualifications could I achieve ? A variety including Entry OCR Art & Design, Ascentis Craft & Design Entry and Level 1, Edexcel Functional Skills English, Maths & ICT Entry 1 - Level 2, Edexcel Personal & Social Development Foundation Learning, Edexcel BTEC Art & Design Entry 3 / Level 1, Edexcel Award in Volunteering Entry 3 / Level 1. What can the course lead to ? Progression to mainstream courses, training,, volunteering and/or paid work How do I join the course ? Initial contact should be made by a mental health professional or GP working with the applicant, who will return a referral form to the course organiser Will I need an interview ? Yes Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? No for students from Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. There may be a termly charge for students living outside these boroughs. This is expected to be paid by your Community Mental Health Trust.
