Technical Theatre Apprenticeships are designed to develop skills working backstage in a theatre. Level 3 apprentices on the Lighting Pathway will train as Board / Console Operators and Lighting Technicians. Apprentices on the Sound Pathway will train as Sound Technicians. Those taking the Stage Pathway will train as Stage Technicians. All your training takes place in a working theatre where you will learn on the job. The EDI programme sets out a selection of practical and theory based units of work for you to complete whilst you are training. You are required to fulfill all the criteria in each unit as well as maintain a level 2 or GCSE grade in English, Maths and ICT. You will complete these units as well as a booklet outlining your employee rights and responsibilities and an online multiple choice questionnaire to gain your qualification. How will I be Taught? You will learn most of your skills in your workplace. When at college you will be guided to complete your portfolio of work and to hone and focus your areas for improvement. How will I be Assessed? You will be assessed in many ways on this course; in the workplace by your asssessor, at college with your tutor and you will be asked to provide witness statements and observation reports. You will be required to complete your coursework with a combinations of written work, photographs and video. What our students say?
