Introduction

The aim of this course is to develop students’ interest in, and appreciation and knowledge of film, as well as to provide students with a foundation in the analysis of film. If you want to study a particular subject in detail, A Levels are an ideal choice of qualification. They are highly valued by both universities and employers.

What Will I Learn

On this course, you will develop crucial research and presentation skills, as well as building on their practical skills, gained at AS level. You will study a wide range of theoretical material, such as Mexican cinema and pre-1917 cinema, which enhances their knowledge of film texts and institutional practices.

How Will I Be Assessed?

The course is split between an exam and coursework (50% each).

Entry Requirements

You will have 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language, as well AS Film Studies.

Additional Information

There will be 4 hours of classroom contact per week, plus independent learning.

Progression

After completing the course, you can progress onto a Higher Education course in Film/Media etc.

Career Opportunities

There are a number of industries to choose from including Film/Media, Journalism, Teaching and Marketing/PR.
