Anyone who has enjoyed opportunities for creative writing at Key Stage 4 and those intending to progress to further study in English Literature or English Language, as well as a range of other creative subjects such as Media, Journalism, Film or Art. It is equally useful for students wishing to develop their ability to express themselves in writing, for a range of audiences.

This A-level in Creative Writing expects students to:

  • Read widely and critically, developing their writing skills by widening their experience of reading
  • Share work-in-progress with others, respond productively to feedback and develop drafting and editing skills.

Assessment Method

AS Written examination 2 hours and coursework 4,500 words. A2 Written examination 3 hours and coursework 6,000 words.

Entry Requirements

At least a grade B in English Language at GCSE. A strong interest in reading and developing writing skills.
